Onboard currencies for both ships is Sterling.
About Cruise & Maritime VoyagesCruise & Maritime Voyages, a three-ship, British-based cruise line, launched in January 2010. The cruise line offers cruises that appeal to more mature travelers, emphasizing interesting and varied itineraries that depart from U.K. homeports. Onboard, entertainment focuses on a solid enrichment program and sedate evening fare.
Cruise & Maritime Voyages FleetCruise & Maritime Voyages offers year-round ex-U.K. itineraries (a total of 63 sailings for 2011) on two vintage ships:
Cruise ship buffs will be familiar with MV Discovery, which must be among the most familiar looking passenger ships in the world. As the former Island Princess, she was the sister ship of the old Pacific Princess, TV's "Love Boat," and even stood in for her more famous and almost identical sibling on some episodes. CMV took delivery of the 20,000-ton, 650-passenger ship, following an extensive refurbishment, in April 2013. It replaced Ocean Countess, which had been with the fleet since 2010.
The 22,000-ton, 820-passenger Marco Polo, which was built in 1965, will also be well-known to anyone with a passing interest in cruise ships. Marco Polo -- which has previously sailed for Orient Lines -- began operating for Cruise & Maritime Voyages in January 2010. Marco Polo is the line's adults-only vessel, and the ship also does a decent job of catering to the single traveller. It has 12 single cabins (two inside and 10 oceanview cabins).
CMV signed a three-year charter of the 620-passenger Astor in February 2013. The ship will sail northbound and southbound itineraries between the U.K. and Australia beginning in November 2013, following the collapse of Classic International Cruises, which previously operated the route. Astor will also offer a round-Australia itinerary and an Australia-Asia-Australia sailing.
Fellow PassengersCruises aboard Cruise & Maritime Voyages' Marco Polo and Discovery are primarily geared to British travelers.
