Onboard

The ambience promises to be luxurious and peaceful.

Unusual for any river vessels, passenger accommodations consist of very spacious staterooms (between 220 and 322 square feet or 21 and 30 square meters), all with floor-to-ceiling sliding-glass window walls and outdoor balconies. Higher category accommodations, like Jayavarman's junior suites, provide seating areas, wrap-around, forward-facing balconies and Jacuzzi tubs. Each room has unique decor, incorporating French or British colonial design with Indochine furnishings and Khmer accent pieces.

The ships also contains a small spa and beauty treatment center (Apsara), specializing in Asian treatments and massages. There is also an open-air massage center on the sun deck.

The dining room serves breakfast, lunch and supper in a large, breezy, windowed room that spans the width of the ship. A "funnel bar" is located on the stern and offers a variety of seating options under a canopied roof. The sun deck is filled with Balinese beds and loungers and has both open-air and shaded sections. There is also a small observation area near the forward wheelhouse.

There's a library that lends books and iPods and has an Internet workstation. There is also a small boutique shop.

Passengers can expect the highest level of service. Amenities include tea- and coffee-making facilities in each room, mini-bars, hair dryers, bathrobes and slippers and individual climate control, plus daily newspapers available in English, French and German. There is also 24-hour room service.

Local entertainment will be brought onboard for evening shows.

About Heritage Line

Founded in 2008, Heritage Line was developed to provide luxury river cruising between Vietnam and Cambodia. The company is a joint Swiss-Vietnamese venture and is headquartered in Vietnam.

Heritage Line Fleet

At this time, the line offers two boats, the Jayavarman, a 700-ton, 54-passenger river vessel that was modeled after the elegant Art Nouveau lines of the ocean liner Normandie, and the 52-passenger Jahan, which features a British Indian colonial theme.

Fellow Passengers

The boats sail two- to seven-night voyages through the Mekong Delta and along the Mekong River, from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Cambodia.
