Disappointing service, amazing nature and 2 out of 3 great excursions

Went on our first Alaska Cruise August 27 - September 3 2023. My 10th cruise, his 2nd. The sail away party from Seattle was nice and really our only opportunity to use the pool unless you have a high tolerance for cold air, but the hot tubs are nice and not crowded. Booked with the Princess Premier package. Paid for itself but some perks not used or not really great...more to come. Balcony room ...

Will not be trusting Princess again - what you see is not what you get

People choose a cruise based on the itinerary and based on ship accommodations. In both cases, Princess let us down. We signed up for a 7 day Alaskan cruise which was supposed to have 4 stops. One was in Victoria Canada, the day before we disembarked. We knew it was an evening stop 7-11pm. There were a few excursions worth doing. But two months before our sail date we were told they wouldn't ...

The itinerary was shortened at two ports: Ketchikan and Victoria. Apparently to accommodate other ships. Victoria excursion came so late on the last day that it was virtually useless. Entertainment was below average overall. Music was often too loud in the midship plaza area which made conversation impossible. Food was OK but not as good as Celebrity or Royal Caribbean. Seating in the buffet ...

Had lovely balcony mini suites for our travel group. Loved the food, good menus and the afternoon wine tasting was a fun activity. General ship management was consistent with Princess. Took several excursions and each were worth the money. Zip lining in Ketchikan, Whale watching in Juneau, Train in Skagway were all fun family activities with teens. Victoria was hit and miss - plan to use a ...

It was recommended by our travel agency so I will try to be fair but also clear on my assessment. Outstanding service and cleanliness all the employees were top notch with friendliness and helpfulness. The food in the buffet was cheap and really poor quality the other restaurants on the ship were very good but beware the cost will stifle you to a point you will lower your view they of them ...

Decent cruise. Staff was polite, professional, and very helpful. Ship itself was clean and well maintained. Sometimes the elevators had a bit of a wait, but nothing horrible. Long lines/wait for gelato. Food was ok. Not fantastic, but not bad. Hard to get reservations at the desired times - but we were able to tag into other cruise-mates reservations to make it work. Room service ...

Alaskan scenery, itinerary and lectures make this a great cruise!

Royal Princess to Alaska Seattle round-trip was a great cruise. I went with a friend, her young son and her brother in early August. Embarkation was super easy, and I found the Blue Lane vs Green Lane to be a meaningless distinction, and picked up my medallion at the same desk as registration, and from getting out of the cab around 11am to being on board took less than 20 minutes. PROS The ...

Our travel agent recommended us to go with Royal Princess for our Alaska cruise as they had the best itinerary. The excursions were great. The day at the glacier on the ship was ok but, even though we went to two, one was so far away, there was no way we could see anything. Disappointing. The on-board activities were uninteresting. A lot of 'game show' activities. My husband went to one "Can you ...

Good Cruise with Noisy Ambiance

We chose this cruise to escape from Dallas where the temperatures are consistently three digit. It was our first Princess cruise, our second Alaska cruise, and about our 25th ocean or river cruise. We booked a mini suite with balcony. This is definitely a ship oriented toward families and a 40-50 year old passenger demographic. Our experience doesn't support comments elsewhere about the Royal ...

My wife and I have been on many cruise ships, as we are 70+ YOA now. We went to Alaska on the Princess Discovery. The ship itself was very nice and so was the crew members. BUT, I have a lot to say about the whole experience. First, when we scheduled the trip, all we could speak to was people from another country who we could not understand and they had no idea of what we wanted. I must of called ...
