We were suppose to visit our nephew and his wife in Okinawa, Japan. She was pregnant and he would eventually be deployed. She decided to go to Seattle to have their baby and be with family. So, my wife and I wanted to see Okinawa and found out there was a cruise company whose itinerary would include Okinawa. One of Princess Cruises Asia routes met our needs with a 15 day cruise This would be ...
We were previously booked to cruise on Diamond in May 2017 and at the last moment, accepted a move over offer from Princess which enabled (or forced us - being not able to cancel air travel or post cruise accommodation) to travel Japan on our own using JR Rail Pass and fell in love with Japan and it's people. Big shout out to JTB Australia for organising a last minute itinerary and accommodation. ...
This was my first time taking a cruise with Princess. I selected Diamond Princess for it's itinerary and destinations, and because it fit in my prior travel plans to Tokyo and Osaka. I was traveling by myself. By booking my ANA flight using EZair, I was able to save a couple hundred dollars, still earn ANA miles and chose my seat.
On previous cruises, I sailed aboard much smaller ships, ...
We wanted to visit Asia for the first time - Dining room attendants and stateroom were fantastic. Very friendly yet respectful - We received stateroom upgrade- Cabin was very clean - Amenities in the cabin were in good working conditions- Inside of the ship was very clean and colorfully decorated - The embarkation and disembarkation were well organized. So they occurred smoothly - The Front Desk ...
Chose cruise for itinerary and was not disappointed. I had always wanted to see the area and the cruise and pre- cruise cruisetour provided just the right opportunity. However, it was the deadest cruise I've encountered. Little music, lounges closed early and stocking of supplies was deficient. Otherwise from beginning to end the dining, stateroom service and shore excursions were of the usual ...
the 20 day Japan , Asia cruise was a great concept which is why we booked. But their where a few issues that need to be looked at for it to be a success-
The clearing through passport and customs at each country took a long time, and with late arrivals at some ports 1300hrs. it left little time to see places closing at 4/5 pm.
- We were sold a cruise going from - 16/10 to 05/11, and Princess ...
We choose this cruise mainly for the itinerary and we weren’t disappointed. We were offered an upgrade to a suite (at a cost) and it really made the cruise. The ship was much better than expected given the reviews I’d seen. I might be being a little generous but overall we had a great time and the crew all worked hard to assure our satisfaction. The ship seemed to be well maintained and clean. If ...
We have only done 2 Princess Cruises with the first being on the Star Princess in Alaska. We rated that cruise 9.5/10 where the Autumn Cruise in Japan is 7/10.
Be aware...the autumn colors are not until the end of October so we only saw some glimpses ...Everyone told us "come back in 2 to 3 weeks!
The cabin and our steward was really good.
The entertainment was middle of the road and ...
Although I was looking forward to the cruise in Japan, it lacked the sparkle that makes a cruise memorable. There was a lingering odor of sewerage at least on deck 10 the odd number cabins. They appeared to be working on the problem, at on point thy had a fan or dehumidifier going . It was acknowledged by crew that something was up but no detail provided.
The shore excursions were ...
Highlight was travelling with all the wonderful Japanese passengers
which gave the cruise a very calm and friendly atmosphere-
And of course the country of Japan which was beautiful and impressive.
Ship Excursions were okay, I think a bit overpriced !!
Some of the Tour guides English or understanding of questions
wasn't great at times.
Low point was all the Immigration ...
