We choose this cruise as we had heard great things about P&O and wanted to explore PNG. Unlike we were so disappointed from the moment we stepped on board. We were on the 14th floor and the entire hallway was filled with black mould and smells so toxic. The ship is so old and has had no maintenance in years. There is rust, old paint, old carpet everywhere. The balcony room is tiny with only one ...
Our 4th Cruise on Encounter since restart.
We loved our cruise to PNG few years back on P&O and this one was just as good ( except one island short of last).
The main reason was the same as last, the people you meet and make friends with on this cruise.
Updates since last trip on ship - Julie the cruise director has gone to Adventure I believe, and Christiaan has progressed up from ...
This is our second cruise on this ship since Covid (although we had been on it many times under the Princess flag) We knew what to expect and the experience was similar to our last voyage except this one had a pot day.
Food offering was similar to the June cruise, however the MDR food was hot. The choices were the same but I found the meal was more enjoyable by have more of the appetisers and ...
In short:
P & O rethink the smoking on the ship, get it away from Oasis space
Advise people that services aren’t available before they get on the ship
When refurbishing rooms check the water stains, and fridges.
Check your own paperwork before talking to the customer.
Was so looking forward to this cruise after COVID, but have been slightly disappointed. Booked the Mini-suite and ...
We paid what I consider an obscene amount for a balcony room, but were unable to use the balcony. Unfortunately, the door to the balcony was almost impossible to open and close, so impractical to use - in fact this made a shoulder problem my wife is experiencing far worse, due to her attempts to open/close this door. Despite numerous requests during the cruise, no rectification was forthcoming. ...
This was our third cruise as a family on a Carnival owned line but the first on P&O Australia specifically. We chose this cruise to get some warmth in north Queensland and to experience see how P&O have presented their new ship. We got a good price on an inside cabin. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but at time P&O made it hard. In this review I'll just 'cut to the chase'.
The Good: The overall ...
Tried P&O again after a break of 7 years. Our expectations were realistic but for a business that needs to be on the ball coming back from Covid shut downs, the experience was mediocre. They seem to think that government mask, distance and hygiene laws are optional. There was no enforcement of rules at all. By the end of the cruise about 30% of pax were maskless and staff did nothing.
Maybe ...
Did a 7 night Qld cruise on the Encounter sailing out of Brisbane in 2022. Embarkation was a nightmare that took a couple of hours just to get on the ship. I hope that process has since been smoothed out.
This was our first post COVID cruise. We have cruised previously on Royal Caribbean, Carnival and P&O (3 times). The ship was nicely sized, but lacking that wow factor compared to other ...
Having not cruised for several years due to Covid, it was great to be out on the ocean once more.
The ship’s capacity is 2 600 but we were informed that there were only 1 600 people on board due to Covid restrictions.
PROS
Staff were obliging, friendly, happy and relaxed.
Common spaces have been revamped and look fresh and clean.
Food was good without being great.
Could always ...
This is another cruise allocated to us from covid cancelled cruises way back, so just went along to clear out the backlog of cancelled cruises.
Booked internal as usual and was worried about cabin after last two cruises on this ship.
Asked cabin steward if cabin has any problems and they said no problems with water. All looked OK except for drawers stuck and not closing so hoped would be Ok. ...
