Cabin 1017

Cabin was on deck 1 with a sea view, perfectly adequate in terms of space and amenity, though did not have a balcony, whereas the vast majority of ocean view cabins on the ship did have a balcony. Our first time on a Holland America ship, and found the terminology misleading - they don't have such a thing as a "cabin", they are all called "staterooms" - bizarre!

Cabin 1035
A little less room than I expected, but was kept well cleaned throughout the cruise. Even though it is on the main deck it is still fairly quiet and has less sway than the upper decks.

Fine! Window was a little hard to see out, but that is life on the sea. Very good lighting, lots of storage, comfortable bed, nice couch. No complaints!

Cabin 1013
As mentioned in the critique our room was a smoking room and we are not. Enough said. The DVD player didn't work right, it would stop during a movie. The safe keypad was broken from the mounting and was pushed back into it so it was very hard to press the keys. The upper shower head bracket was loose. The cabin was directly under the Piano Bar so we had loud music and thumps until around 2200 each night. be sure to bring earplugs if you are stuck with this room.
