We actually rebooked this cruise, after the offer was improved significantly to include flight credits.
It was unfortunate that there was no child drop off for our 3 year old. So we cancelled our youngest kids. As we did not understand this at the time of booking. I didn't understand the reason for this. Unless Norwegian had staffing issues. How do enjoy fine dining or a theatre show, if you ...
The cruise ran like an efficient machine, the service was great and all the staff were exceptionally friendly.
The food choices were expansive and pretty good...although towards the end of the cruise it became obvious that the food was a little old.
A couple of thing mired the trip, the broken wheel and the extra fees.
1. One of the staff broke a wheel on our suitcase and the management ...
Embarkation Port: Per NCL this cruise left out of Venice...or so we thought. NCL listed the embarkation port as Venice (Trieste). In every cruise I have ever taken, the embarkation port is in the city listed so we assumed Trieste was close to Venice. Trieste is 2 HOURS away from Venice by taxi or train. Since we thought the cruise left out of Venice, we had not booked our train to Venice in ...
So this being my first cruise post Covid (done several NCL cruises last decade) wanted to make a review of what works (and what is utter failure) with NCL. This is not a bash on them, I am a platinum member and very pleased with them overall, but they are not the same as my last cruise (2019), some is better, some is worse, others are just different.
First off, the booking is not as convenient ...
Here is your review:
Third time cruising the Greek Islands for me, so I was familiar with majority of ports. The embarkation process was so quick, they were even offering cold drinks and snacks in the line waiting. We arrived at the dock 12.05, was onboard getting a drink by 12.35 and our cabins were ready by 12.45. The food in the buffet was incredible. We have never seen so much choice, and ...
Except for one waiter at Magenta (from Zimbabwe) and the man of room service, everything was worse.
Guest service isn't prepared. I paid one coffee at Starbucks and the system didn't recognize it, then I asked for help. The man at the balcony was very rude, saying I had to pay and I didn't want to. No one gives a damn when you ask for the manager, they offer you to write a letter and send a ln ...
We are not seasoned cruisers so take this review with a pinch of salt as others might have other standards/views. This is our 3rd cruise, the first on NCL Epic then one on MSC Seaview and this one on the Gem. We started cruising on huge ships because of my fear of seasickness and I was a bit worried to go on a smaller ship due to this. However, we loved much better this size of the ship and it ...
The good…virtually any cruise is enjoyable. this was no exception. the ports we visited were wonderful. the crew added positive vibes to our adventure. every one was cheerful and friendly. a couple of bartenders, anna and salvador deserve particular mention. our room steward, darryl was also first rate.
The bad…ok, the food wasn’t bad. are golden corral or applebee’s bad? no, but it’s ...
We thought we liked the itinerary - 10 day cruise from Venice to Barcelona with a different port everyday. We wore ourselves out and did not have the discipline not to get off the ship every day. Just couldn’t resist at least seeing the port. Next time I will choose ships with at least 2 sea days on a 10 day cruise. Ports we liked: Split, Dubrovnik, Kotor: each of which we did either a hop on/hop ...
We chose Norwegian Star because of the price was right. But the saying goes you get what you pay for. Let me start by saying that if you expect help from personnel if you contract Covid on the ship, you are badly fooling yourself. Let me tell you, as for a health care professional for 40 years, sanitation is the least of there worries. I went on board on April 13, 2022 in Venus, Croatia, ...
