I've found you either love cruising, or try it and find that cruising is not for you. We fall into the former bucket and have been on 20 odd cruises over the years. We've sailed with NCL, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Princess, and generally find more similarities than differences across lines. That said, we tend to prefer NCL.
My wife and I sailed on the Epic not long after it was first ...
For starters we are a traveling family. So we are well travelled. We heard many great things about cruises and was told that as far as cruise lines “Norwegian” is top tier. As first time cruisers we decided to splurge and go with what as been advertised and described as the best.
We chose this cruise line because it was supposed to be luxury and family friendly. This was not the case. What we ...
We have sailed on other cruise lines and so this was our first NCL Cruise. The ship overall is good. We were surprised that it was so nice. I believe that it was in the dry dock recently for two weeks for a quick refurb. Getting on the ship was quick. We arrived early at the port for an 11:30 check-in and were eating in the cafe by 11:20. Our rooms were ready by noon. Fastest I have ever ...
I must start this by saying we have been on numerous NCL cruises and always found them to be 5 stars.
We went on the Epic the week of January 21st. The Epic was the filthiest NCL ship I have ever been on. The banisters were so dirty I used a hand sanitizer every time I came off the steps. The windows, and the balcony were disgusting. The room set up was awful, there was no real bathroom. There ...
This is my second cruise. I’m not an expert. My first cruise was a 4-day Mexico vacation on Royal Caribbean (RC). My wife and I wanted to get away. We picked Norwegian gateway out of New Orleans to go to the Caribbean.
Embarkation day went smoothly, we picked a 2:30PM time slot and it took about 15 min between arriving at the terminal and getting on the ship.
Our room (regular balcony) was ...
We chose a cruise to go to the Bahamas, Cozumel, Belize, and Rotoan. The itinerary changed three times. First two, changing days around. I was told I now needed a passport to get into Belize so no problem my wife and I spent almost $600 expediting passports. Sure enough, they cancel Belize (the only reason we booked this cruise) and add Costa Maya…fine it happens. Next, they canceled the Bahamas ...
So, first time cruiser here so I have little point of reference. But, I had an absolutely brilliant time with my father on this voyage of a life time to the utterly amazing Patagonia and Antarctica (sorry if this is a bit long).
Embarkation - so easy. It took around 45 mins to arriving at bag drop off to sitting by the pool with a beer in my hand. At all points there seemed to be forward ...
I would like to add my review of this shockingly disorganized NCL cruise to South Africa. We booked this cruise for the itenerary and a once in a lifetime African adventure!
The service, entertainment, bars, and dining were acceptable and quite enjoyable.
However the following comments are examples of how this cruise was such an overall disappointment.
The embarkation was completely ...
My wife and I took this cruise expecting it to be the highlight of our cruising life. It was a nightmare experienc. It all began with ourhope of not just seeing exiting places but also learning more about different colonial histories. In this case Portuguese, British, Dutch and French. The Portuguese element disappeared before we left when Mozambique was removed from the itinerary. In return we ...
I choose this cruise because of its itinerary, but boy what a disappointment!
From embarkation to disembarkation it was a total disaster.
Cancelled ports of call, total disorganisation of everything from the muster station was closed because of refuelling when we were being called to report there! luggage arriving at 11.30pm at night ( we were lucky, many passengers had handed their luggage ...
