Ncl has been our go to cruise line. We have tried others but usually prefer NCL. We are a couple in our 60’s, this was our 40th cruise We were traveling with another couple that had never been on NCL. Getting away from -19 temps in Nebraska Getting on the ship in San Juan was fast other than my husbands card didn’t work to board so he had to go back to get another. We boarded at 1:30 so our ...

Our first time on prima class. We sailed in the Haven and really enjoyed the experience. There are some pros and cons with this ship class while sailing in the Haven. Below are specific to the Haven experience and complex Pros -The layout of the entire complex being in the aft of the ship creates the true ship within a ship experience -The layout of the public space is convenient and ...

A pretty good experience

My wife and I have taken 10 cruises in the last 19 years. This was our 3rd NCL cruise. We selected this one as we wanted to experience new-to-us Caribbean islands and St. Lucia in particular, as it’s described as Hawaiian-like (a favorite, albeit, far away destination). We were delighted by the idea of sailing on a new ship, and followed news about its construction and initial sailings in Europe. ...

The Viva is beautiful with a couple flaws

My husband and I always wanted to cruise on a newer ship and escape the brutal SD winter so we chose the Viva, Our NCL arranged flight was not great, We flew to Denver over 700 miles west just to fly back that far back to go to San Juan. The flight home through Atlanta made more sense. Our embarkation was fast and efficient. The balcony cabin was a dream. Large bathroom, lovely shower and ...

Worst cruise ever!

There is nothing positive about the NCL Viva or the company. We've been on 15 previous cruises with Carnival, Holland America, Princess, Celebrity, and Royal Caribbean. The following are our opinions and experiences on the cruise that departed San Juan, PR on January 21st. This ship's public areas (dining venues, entertainment venues, etc.) are undersized based upon the number of guests it ...

Thing to know - NCL Viva

If you check out the NCL Viva tour videos on Youtube, you will get a far better grasp of how the ship is laid out than I can present here. However, let me offer a few tips: All cabins 9750 and lower are located right above the Viva theater that turns into a disco at night. If you can't sleep with thump-thump-thump until 12:30 in the AM, stay elsewhere. The cabin itself is very comfortable, ...

Smaller ship - overall experience "meh"

We signed up for this cruise back in 2022 during the COVID-19. Recently returned from this 7-day Caribbean cruise to Tortolla, Barbados, Antilles, St. Lucia, St. Marten and St. Thomas. The ports were beautiful and had small shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance. The VIVA, one of Norwegian's newer ships, holds approximately 3200 passengers. Specialty dining was almost completely ...

The ship was beautiful but the positive stops there.

I chose this cruise because we have never cruised with Norwegian and the ship is new. VERY poorly laid out. You have to make reservations for basically everything. The ship holds thousands of passengers but the comedy area holds sixty. If you want to see a comedy show, you have to arrive almost 2 hours early in order to get in. NO real entertainment. One "real" show. some random crew ...

Not a cruise expert here but wanted to chime in as I've read a lot of negative reviews about this ship and I think they reflect individual experiences, rather than a problem with the ship. This is an enjoyable ship if you set your expectations well and time your activities according to movements of crowds. The wrap around deck gives you opportunity to walk with sound of waves and sea breeze. ...

Viva disappointment

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Norwegian Viva

Pick the Viva because it was new and opportunity to explore several ports. Entering ship on deck 4 first day No music, no one offering a drink or a warm welcome or taking pictures. The main theater was extremely small and felt uncomfortable, tight seating. Enjoyed the icons show and Beetlejuice. However, that only two nights of 7 That left little options to for Syd’s or comedy club ...
