Several years I started a series of blogs relating our adventures[and misadventures] of cruising with someone who has walking difficulties ie my husband.
For anonymity I call him 6.
You may remember the 70s series about Steve Austin an astronaut who was severely injured and rebuilt with bionics to the tune of 6 million dollars.
Well as a result of Rheumatoid arthritis hitting him in his ...
We live in Hawaii. My wife and I wanted to take our 14-year-old daughter on a big trip before she gets older and might no longer be interested in traveling with us. Our goal was to create family memories, expose her to different cultures and show our daughter that the world is a far bigger place than just Hawaii.
We booked the Norwegian 'Getaway' with the following itinerary:
Jul ...
So we chose this cruise for our daughter's sweet sixteen gift. From the get go I didn't like reservations wouldn't allow me to put the passengers where they needed to be, two the air their was 7 of us going. So since I couldn't have my elderly father-in-law with my disabled son, my husband and I had to be their guide. My father in law and husband flew Denver to New York, then to Rome, My son and I ...
First time with Norwegian. We had a balcony on the 13th Deck. The cabin was nice and comfortable. The food in all dining was great! Pool and amenities were great and drink package was perfect. We have done several cruises with another line and loved them but Norwegian is tops! We have already booked another for Spring ‘24.
The selections of different restaurants is great, lots of selection. ...
Booked this cruise as a family reunion holiday for 17 people spread across 5 rooms. Overall a disappointing experience.
1. The Breakaway:
- Despite having received a refresh in 2019, the ship feels dirty, tired and dated. Be careful no not trip over the ripped carpet seams on nearly every elevator lobby/stairwell. Many of the windows in the Thermal spa, fitness center and restaurants are ...
We booked a cruise 2 years earlier for a 50th birthday celebration but it was cancelled due to covid restrictions. This was now a 52 birthday celebration.
First the embarkment day at Civitavecchia. It was a total mess. Our boarding time was a 9:30 AM and we got to the port from Rome at 8:30AM. There was a lot of confusion of where we should go to enter and had relocated 3 times because of ...
We chose this cruise based on the destinations. We were excited and paid premium for many areas and it was not worth the money. Some workers didn’t even seem happy to be there. The way they handled the itinerary was sad-spending all day in ports where things were closed and minimal time on ports with the most flair. The excursions were extremely over-priced and not worth the money. So many people ...
My husband and I booked this cruise for our 25th wedding anniversary. We flew I to Rome two days before the cruise in order to decompress and explore a bit of Rome before embarking. Because I have mobility issues, we arrived at the port and I was provided a wheelchair and was processed immediately. Our cabin was also ready when we embarked. We stayed in a balcony on the forward side of the ship. ...
We chose this cruise because of the bucket list itinerary - the ports were amazing and a dream come true!! This was our 6th cruise, but our first with Norwegian. Embarkation went beautifully. We've sailed with 2 other cruise lines and the service, staff and food were always top notch. Unfortunately, we didn't quite find that on Norwegian. The cleaning staff on our floor looked tired and weary - ...
This was to be our 25th Wedding Anniversary Cruise through the Mediterranean. Due to the air flights being booked to close together by Norwegian Airlines the connections were not made and we missed getting on the boat in Rome. Although we would have arrived in time to board they would not permit it. They were to leave 5:00pm and did not leave until 5:45pm. We would have arrived by 4:45pm. They ...
