Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

My wife chose this cruise mainly due to our starting and stopping in Rome {Civitavecchia}, so we spent a few days in Rome after the 10-day adventure. Starting off with a late embarkation due to serious plumbing issues on deck 8, we had a nice first day at sea but arrived late to our first port, Santorini. Taking the cable car was the best way to make the most of an excursion that only lasted a few ...

We got a great deal for this cruise through our NCL cruise consultant and hence decided to book it straight away. We flew to Rome via British Airways on the morning of the cruise. Flight was on time and we were transferred to Port of Civitavecchia promptly. Unfortunately when we got there, there were long queues. Since we had used NCL transfer package, our luggage was being transferred in ...

Ok, first the good. The food is pretty reasonable. We eat at speciality restaurants , the buffet and the three included restaurants. Manhattan room restaurant was a bitt too big and noisy for us but the others were very nice. The restaurant staff were all very friendly and helpful and the food good. The speciality restaurants were great and $25 extra for Lobster seemed fair. There were garlic ...

Worst Norwegian class ship

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Viva

We are long time NCL cruisers and were excited to try the Viva. We had one mid ship balcony and one Haven penthouse. Long story short the ship feels very cramped. The buffet is tiny and was full everytime we tried to get in. Indulge was full every time we tried to get in as well. There are many pools, but they are all small and not something we wanted to use. There were very few hand ...

Removed the basketball courts on this class of ships. Charging for everything. Food is horrible and buffet is tiny.

It seems that NCL really missed the mark here. Any cruise should be focused on high quality food and a great customer experience. 1. They removed the sports court. This was a main area my son loved to be in on previous ships. He would meet most of his friends on the basketball court and they would go off and have fun for the rest of the cruise. This was replaced with a Go-kart track that is ...

My first impression upon boarding, the Norwegian Viva was wow it’s so new and shiny . We opted for an inside cabin since we booked it three days in advance in the Mediterranean we basically booked it to get around the itinerary. It has a nine days with ports every day Sicily Croatia we boarded in Rome and it will drop us off in Venice, so that was our interest The cabin is very comfortable the ...

We love to cruise with Norwegian! They always do a great job with service and cruise pricing. We always do the Free at Sea with Unlimited Open Bar Package. Its the only way to travel! The only thing that was missing on the Breakaway was an observation lounge where you can hangout. The Bliss has a great observation lounge!! The overall dining experience for the most part is good and the special ...

The ship and its ports

Cruised the mediterranean to italy and greece. Let start with the ship. Not the top of the line when it comes to luxury. Staterooms are smaller than any other line we’ve been on. On to the food. breakfast never charged. Some may see that as a good thing but would have enjoyed a morning with pancakes eggs over easy and sausage patties. In their defense you could get eggs over easy at the omelette ...

We chose this cruise for its itinerary. The ship was stopping in Egypt, Israel and ending in Istanbul Turkey. We were interested in seeing the Pyramids in Cairo and touring Jerusalem then spending some time in Istanbul at the end of it. Due to some very unfortunate circumstances we were unable to stop in Israel so we had an extra sea day. We covered 3 continents, Africa, Asia & Europe in this ...

Overall, we had a great trip. We really liked the new ship and everything it has to offer. Embarkation was super easy. I booked transportation from Rome with a port transfer company from Civitavecchia. https://www.civitavecchiaport.org/transfer/ On the boat, We enjoyed the race cars, mini golf, the stadium area with it mini pickle ball court, the lounge acts, comedians, and seeing the act at ...
