This is a new cruise that Norwegian is testing. Starts in Dominica Republic, goes to 14 islands in 14 days, southern swinging up eastern back to Dominica Republic. It’s on the Norwegian Sky. Older, smaller ship but refurbished a few years ago. Because it’s a smaller ship, able to get into smaller islands. Only one tender to a private island. Lots of beaches, lots of cultural experiences and some ...
We've used Norwegian for all our cruises and after this one we hit the Platinum level Latitudes. We've experienced some amazing things cruising with NCL, but this cruise has been awful. Only two redeeming things we've had in 12 days. The first was a dinner at their new Mexican restaurant Los Lobos Cantina. The food was excellent, the service was exceptional. We also always book the Mandara Spa ...
We booked the cruise 9 month in advace with great ports in mosambik and madagaskar.
A few month later mosambik was canceld and the intresting ports in madagaskar where changed into boring ports.
Then where a big pricedrop. Norwegian ignored our complaints. Altough the where about 50 cabins empty, no possibility to get an upgrade.
The water and coffee on board tasted terrible and although ...
Chose this cruise because of the itinerary ie. South Africa and Namibia. From day 1 the writing was on the wall. I will start with the good points and there aren’t many.
Food-In general this was very good. Good quality and good selection. Food in Aqua and the Venetian was as good if not better than we have had on other cruises.
Staff-In line with all other cruise lines stewards, waiters, bar ...
We chose this cruise for it’s itinerary, even though Mozambique was removed late last year, and an interesting Madagascar port was replaced by two stops in the north of the island which at best could be described as terrible! The South Africa stops were great, Nosy Be and Antsinerara below average due to the Shore Excursion team not explaining the shocking travel arrangements on both, we did not ...
I had always wanted to return to South Africa since living there as a child. For our retirement we planned a dream vacation that began in Cape Town, picked up the NCL Dawn for a 12 night cruise and should have culminated in a 4 day stay in Mauritius, but as a result of the authorities suspecting a cholera outbreak on board we missed out on our Mauritius stay.
I have cruised for over 40 years ...
Chose this busy 14 day, 14 port cruise out of Dominican Republic for a great itinerary. We sailed this ship on our 1st ever cruise in 2003 when we still had kids. The ship is now the oldest NCL ship I believe and one of the smallest. We sailed out of La Romana after flying into Punta Cana on Superbowl weekend.
The port: La Romana is a nice port with plenty to do. Unfortunately, the D.R. is ...
We chose the NCL Breakaway because we were in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and have sailed NCL many times before. It’s a beautiful ship but the venues are not capable of handling the number of passengers on board. The showroom is smaller than those on smaller ships and required reservations on the only floor show twice on two days during the week. The show BURN THE FLOOR was good but it was ...
This was my and my wife’s tenth cruise on NCL and was our favorite cruise line until this cruise. I started having reservations about this ship as well as the Prima after reading reviews. A lot of the complaints that people had didn’t really bother me, but I was concerned about some.
The good. We had balcony on deck 11, it was good. The housekeeper was excellent, never had to wait for room to ...
The cruise went to some great places and we did excursions , unusually for us , and on the whole they were good. NCL are noisy ships and we always get a spa pass as that is the only place inside you can sit to have a view out of the front of the boat. Entertainment is varied and some is good some less so, food is generally good. Seated drinks service is always patchy, do they have a lot of people ...
