The Joy was supposed to be a new ship with race track and modern luxurious feel. We got the opposite, depressed staff, sick people, highly unsatisfied and worst experience we have ever had on a ship. One reason I picked this ship was that it had ping pong that my kids and I could enjoy. Well, no ping pong, library, or mini golf during the entire 7 days! Because of norovirus? Went on the Norwegian Joy Nov 24-Dec 1. Ship had Norovirus outbreak. Ship was filthy. Our stateroom was not ready until 10:00 PM the first evening. Hallway smelled like poop and throw up.. Two words - Norovirus, Disembarkation
Multiple patients from illness, including several removed by ambulance after landing in LA at the end of the trip. Our mantra about halfway through the cruise became, "Don't touch ANYTHING!!!"

This was our fourth cruise with NCl. We felt dedicated to sail with them again. But our room was changed from the 10th deck to the 9th deck with notification. This was a first time cruise with NCL and we booked it because it gave us transit of the Panama canal which we had missed with other cruises in this area. Wanted to do the Panama Canal, and the bonus of Costa Rica was a big plus. Been on a couple of cruises and lines, so wanted to try something different.
