We are a family of 5 - parents of 3 teenage children aged 19, 17 and 16 from Australia. This cruise was the first week of a 2 week holiday, followed by 6 nights in Waikiki. We had a great time on this cruise and loved the perks of being suite guests, which included breakfast and lunch at Cagneys plus a 3 meal specialty dining package. Other benefits included priority tender access into Kona and ...
I've only been on one other cruise before and it was Royal Caribbean or Princess (honestly can't remember) back in 2004 for my senior trip. We visited Cozumel, the Cayman Islands and Key West. It was a nice, 3-4 day trip but nothing like our most recent cruise. NCL's Pride of America was a solid vacation, mainly because we finally met people our own age a few days in.
PoA only has one area on ...
This cruise was originally purchased for my sister and her husband.
They bought insurance when they originally bought the package because he was ill.
My brother in law passed away and norwegian cruise line would not honor the insurance.
Eventually my sister and i took the cruise , she was allowed 75% of her original purchase amount.
The cruise itself:
We had a great sense of ...
This was our first cruise but definitely not our last. The Pride of America is a beautiful ship. They have everything you could possible need on board. Our room was excellent. Much more roomy than we anticipated and the bed was super comfortable. So glad we got a balcony so we could watch the ship coming into port and we got spectacular views of the Napali coast in Kauai. The entire ship is ...
Friday night before the cruise, we did the Germaine's Luau. I ordered tickets by phone and used a AAA discount. It was a nice way to start the vacation. If you buy a tiki glass, they fill it instead of small glasses for your beverages. We stayed at the Hampton Inn Oahu in Kapolei. They have free parking and breakfast. Saturday we did Pearl Harbor before we sailed.
Cruise:
If this would have ...
To be able to see as much of Hawaii as possible. This was the only cruise line that went to more the 3 Islands and stayed multiple days on several Islands. Major features on the ship, such as the swimming pool, were closed the entire trip limiting the activities that were available onboard the ship. The dining service staff were not as attentive to the passengers as we have experienced on other ...
This was a 25th Anniversary cruise for me and my wife. It was our 2nd with NCL and 4th overall...so we are not new at this, but its is not an every year vacation also..We did a pre-cruise stay at the Marriot which was very nice and close to Waikiki. We went to Dukes for dinner...also very nice..Christmas Parade along the boulevard ...but it was unseasonably cool and rainy so we watched what we ...
My wife and I chose this cruise for our 50th anniversary because of its itinerary. We were soon disappointed. I will give the positives first. Embarkation and Disembarkation were extremely easy and organized. Our room steward was fantastic. Now the minuses. Food in main dining room and buffet was mediocre at best. We had an Italian and Mexican themed night but no Hawaiian night. Seemed unusual ...
We prefer NCL and have always enjoyed our cruises until this experience. My husband and I wanted to take the entire family and a group of friends on a Thanksgiving cruise in Hawaii. We started planning this in October of 2016. We started out strong, but as the months went on, we kept getting conflicting information from our NCL Group Director.. I told her I thought that I should work with ...
We chose this cruise because although we have cruised here three times previously it is an area which we find very picturesque and we like the Hawaiian dancing.
The ship appeared to have had a refit since our last sailing on her. The cabin was very nice and we could not fault the cleanliness of all areas of the vessel.
We were impressed with the very large dining room, we were on freedom ...
