Leading up to our 7 day Hawaiian cruise on NCL's Pride of America, I did a LOT of research. I read most of the reviews posted on this site plus every other piece of information I could find online. I did this because I had been responsible for arranging the cruise for my four friends and I and overall the reviews I found here and elsewhere were not very positive. I was therefore nervous that I was ...
This cruise was for a first time family visiting Hawaii. It was our way of experiencing each island. This was our third cruise with Norwegian and this absolutely exceeded my expectations. Clean room, mattress, sheets and outstanding service. Outstanding service from Yolanda (cabin steward), Pamela, Jelly, Jami (cruise director) Anne and the entire crew that we met. An infectious crew with their ...
We booked this cruise last minute and got a great deal. We travelled with extended family and had a large party for evening meals, but didn't have any difficulty booking dinners. Despite what others stated, we found the food to be great in the main dining room and didn't feel the need to book at any of the speciality restaurants. We had breakfast each day at the buffet where there was a variety ...
This was our first visit to Hawaii and so we wanted to make sure we were able to check out the big 4 islands and subsequently come back to the specific island we would love the most. Very happy to say that overall we were very happy with most aspects - in terms of embarkation, disembarkation, cabin, ship condition, most service employees. The ship pretty much was bang on target in terms of docking ...
We loved the NCL Pride of America cruise. This is the perfect way to see Hawaii, and be able to see all of the islands. We preplanned our shore excursions, and speciality dining to celebrate our anniversary. The best part was coming on board, and just enjoying your time.
We had several shore excursions- We went on the Road to Hanna. We explored the waterfalls, black sand beaches, and ...
This was our first cruise and we live in Alaska. It was our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We renewed our vows on top of the ship, everyone involved was the greatest.
The pre-departure overnight hotel was really nice as the room was wonderful and the bed was so comfortable. Buses brought us to the ship the next morning. Embarkation and Disembarkation was smooth and seamless. No problems leaving or ...
AVOID THIS CRUISE AT ALL COSTS!!! Especially if you are a seasoned cruiser. I have been on six prior cruises (Royal Caribbean and one Carnival). This was my first experience with Norwegian and I was very disappointed. The food was TERRIBLE. And the service in the Skyline dining room was awful. It took two hours for my family of five to eat dinner. The waiters were not personable and did not try to ...
We chose this cruise because the Pride is the only cruise ship that cruises the Hawaiian Islands. A Norwegian ship would not have been our first choice.
The Good:
1. The itinerary was excellent! The captain also sailed near the erupting volcano on the Big Island and that was cool to see.
2. Embarkation/check in was a breeze!
3. The 2 ship excursions I did alone were pricey but ...
Aloha Cafe was the buffet - open most of the day. Frankly this was a pleasant surprise, several items the whole family found to be very good and worthy of having again and again. That's the good news.
The disappointments start with the bar service - on several occasions I showed my unlimited soda plan card to the bartender and he then actively ignores me, serving other customers until I left in ...
The Pride of America is an old ship and a small one. Compared to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands this ship definitely did not compare. The crew does their very best to make the most of what they have to work with however, the food and on board activities need to be stepped up.
I have no complaints with embarkation and disembarkation - it was fast and efficient. We did have to wait a couple of ...
