"The ship is nice even though there are a few thousand people on there quite a few places to hide and keep yourselves to yourself
The food was nice and tasty
The staff were nice in all areas no concerns at all
The internet isn’t worth it at all, the count down once logging on takes a minute off you straight away but we had 120 minutes for free but if you chat with the internet man he is really good and polite
We had the drinks package but on a few occasions there was NO Malbec in the restaurants not sure why.We found the balcony room ok the shower room was quite big we were in 10624, but one thing that bugged me was the room cleaning attendant used to open our door to give us the next days program - so put do not disturb on your door - also to note there is only 1 turn down per day not an evening turn down either which is not good
Overall we enjoyed the cruise and would travel again on the Gem but I would be very careful over the decision on which ports we were to stop at

Having sailed NCL several times before and reading reviews of the Gem, I looked forward to another enjoyable cruise. Sadly, we were disappointed.
The ship is very well maintained. The staff, excellent (except some non-helpful Shore Exc. staff). The majority of the public areas and venues are very nice. Our favorites where the Great Outdoors and the Spinnaker Lounge.
Food...let's just ...
We sailed on the NCL Gem from 2/16-2/19. It was just hubby and I, we’re experienced cruisers with NCL and Royal Caribbean. For starters, I love the size of the Gem. I have been on the Getaway few years ago which at the time was one of the biggest, and since then only sailed on medium-sized ships.
THE POSITIVES FIRST
The Embarkation process - we embarked in Miami, and it was a breeze. ...
We have sailed with Norwegian in the past and enjoyed our cruises. This one was the size ship we prefer ( medium or smaller) with a nice itinerary and a good length for us. We decided to get a club balcony suite so we could spend more time outdoors and watch the activity in port. Also we got a few extra perks for booking it. The cabin and our cabin steward’s service were excellent. Most of the ...
Had bary bad experience with this company, reserved shore trip and could not make in time due to delayed arrival. Rhys would not refund my fool cost or give my credit. Don’t book anything with these thieves, use local guides onshore or use Expedia instead. Room cleaning is 40$ per room per day . You can skip few days and get refund. Service and shows betę actually priory good . Ship was also in ...
This was our first cruise ever. We enjoyed the Norwegian Gem. We had chosen a balcony room on the 11th deck. We did get the room we chose and it was much bigger in person than what the pictures had shown. Our room steward was very accommodating and friendly. When your room says DO NOT DISTURB, they wont even knock for anything (EX room service). I did NOT like the tub though. It had such high ...
We have cruised on other lines before, and this was our first experience on NCL. We are now huge fans! First of all, I loved the Gem - the ship is perfectly sized for me. It was easy to get around, and there were lots of areas to sit and hang out with a book and a drink. My favorite was the Spinnaker Lounge early in the morning with a book and a cup of coffee (you can get coffee right around the ...
We chose this Caribbean cruise as it sailed from New York and we wanted to spend 3 days before joining the ship. Also the drinks package and speciality dinning for 2 nights was a factor.
First the good points: The staff are super friendly and we had good service on the whole. Cagneys and Moderna speciality restaurants were superb. The complimenary Asian restaurant was also very good.
Our ...
11 nights sailing the Eastern Caribbean on the Norwegian Gem was my very first cruise experience. I kept my expectations low, but I was pleasantly surprised. Obviously, I have some pros and cons as a first-time cruiser so let's start with the embarkation experience from the NYC port.
Embarkation:
NCL should list the pier number for NYC embarking cruise ships in advance. When I called ...
The departure from NYC was convenient and went well. Having sailed several times with Norwegian we were quickly disappointed with the cleanliness of the rooms. Cup rings and greasy spots on furniture and bad smelling old bedding. Not a good start coming out of a pandemic. The staff was professional but seemed to have a lack luster attitude. Rooms are no longer serviced for turn down since the ...
The Ncl ship used to be good to travel in. However my recent experience (March 2023) was a total disappointment. See below some notably drastic changes we experienced before, during and after the trip to 5 ports from nyc:
1) kids ages 5 and under were in one of 4 hot pools without parent supervision
2) this ship used to have 2 hot pools on upper deck and those are now gone
3) the ...
