we chose this cruise because of the Tampa port and time of year, first time on NCL line, have been on Holland and Royal and both were better than the NCL cruise IMO; pros: food is really quite good and the specialty restaurants are great, getting on and getting off boat were great, very organized, some staff was very good, but most were not. weather was fabulous and the ports were good. ...

Family Cruise, First on NCL

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Getaway

Was nervous when reading some of the reviews when the Getaway arrived in New Orleans a couple months ago. If you are organized and do your research before boarding, you will have a wonderful vacation. Our family has been on 8 cruises on medium to large Royal Carribean and Carnival ships and found the Getaway to be very similar in many ways. We always sail during the busiest times to cruise ...

I have taken many New Years cruises, I also have taken four New Year cruises with Norwegian, but I have to say this one was the worst. Embarkation & Disembarkation was one think they did right, The cabin was nice, but the cabin steward only clean the room. Any message I had to go to guest service and they told me the steward was to deliver it. As far as TOWEL ANIMALS there was NONE. ...

Our family group of 8 persons (ages 18-82) wanted to celebrate New Years together on a cruise. We have enjoyed NCL together before, but definitely not this time. This ship was had too many people (5000) which meant you were in line for EVERYTHING! You had to make reservations for the free shows, but still stand in line to get entrance for a good seat. Why make reservations? We made ...

Our Honeymoon & First Cruise Together

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Norwegian Epic

We married on a Friday and flew into Puerto Rico the next day around 1730. We took a taxi from the airport to the Sheraton Hotel & Casino. Getting a taxi was extremely easy. The attendant asked how many passengers, how many bags, and where was our destination. The fees were transparent and a copy was given to us. The cab fare was $24 and a $6 tip, so a total of $30. From the airport to the hotel ...

I chose this cruise for its itinerary of Barbados, St. Kitts, Tortola, St. Lucia and St. Thomas to share with my 19 year old son and his 20 year old girlfriend- the itinerary was awesome. That being said, on board the ship it was completely dysfunctional. The day of embarkation, the process was very smooth getting on the ship where it took us about 30 minutes to board where our room was ready ...

Crowded with Fees

The ship was nice enough, however, when they had most events the areas became dangerously over crowed and no functional service. All areas were open to kids, including bars and casinos. One night a few large families lock-up the bar with their kids trying to sing Karaoke, then stayed for hours denying the intended gust a spot to set down. NCL has what they call "Freestyle cruising" dinning for ...

Ship was old but in good condition. Rooms could use some updating. Cagney's Steakhouse was not a steakhouse steak house steak and sided were bad. Teppanyaki was good and we had a good time. O'Sheenhan's bar food was average but the drinks and bartenders were good. Venetian and Aqua were average but had no trouble getting seated even with 5 without a reservation. Garden Café ...

New Years cruise with the family

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Dawn

Rather than socks and sweaters, we decided to give our family a cruise this year to build some quality memories. This was our first cruise on NCL, having been on several other trips with Holland America, Princess, Carnival and Cunard. We are not cruise snobs, but certainly not newbies, either. As others have noted, the Dawn is a little tired, but overall clean. However, the smaller size of the ...

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

I have sailed on Norwegian four or five times, so I had a pretty good idea what to expect this time and, indeed, this cruise conformed to my expectations. Basically, this is a medium giant ship with lots and lots of activities for kids - minigolf ( the course could use some rehab); ping pong; water slides; rope climbs, bingo etc. Family upgrade cabin 12772 has bunk beds below and from ceiling a ...
