We cruised on Breakaway from 26 Feb to March 5th from New Orleans. We’ve never cruised NCL before but got such an amazing deal I couldn’t pass it up. I was a bit apprehensive based on some recent reviews and I will certainly not disparage other's remarks, only report our experiences both positive and negative. In short, we had a very pleasant cruise and will include NCL in future cruise plans. ...
We are sapphire level Norwegian-loyal and previously huge supports on NCL with 11 cruises on NCL but our recent week on the EPIC has changed that commitment. If this is the post COVID level of service for NCL we will be cruising the competition! The ship was very full, which just means more people to meet and enjoy BUT not while waiting for hours to get a meal or see a show! Our room was only ...
We cruised on Epic in the med in 2018 and when we saw this itinerary and the airfare special we started planning. On to the Soot and stuff....When we embarked at 2:00 we headed up to the adult pool area for a drink and to enjoy the San Juan sunshine. I noted that the floors were pretty badly stained and littered with rust. We realized what it was and mentioned it to the bar staff (priorities ...
Where do I start....
Embarking time was 12-12:30, we arrived at Tampa port and line ups were very long, either passengers disregarded their time slots or NCL was very disorganized with registering passengers. We finally got through the process and arrived on the ship but had to wait for our room to be ready. Went to Garden Cafe (buffet) only half the buffet was open. We had an Oceanview ...
We've been on the Epic before in the Mediterranean a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. We like the Caribbean so the combination appealed to us.
Embarkation was quick and simple. The first thing we noticed was that it was a lot busier than our previous cruise on the same ship. We now presume the previous time we sailed on her she must have not been at full capacity. Anyway, we didn't ...
This cruise was scheduled and rescheduled several times due to Covid and, in the end, exceeded our expectations! We were so lucky with sunshine, smooth seas and abundant sea life and the crew capitalized on all of it.
Cruise paths were modified to take us where the whales and other sea life were feeding and we enjoyed magnificent days exploring the Antarctic waters and seeing countless whales, ...
Sadly, NCL Dawn is just a vehicle to get to fun port destinations. As a pretty frequent cruiser, and latitudes member I must say we have seen a steady decline in NCL. The Dawn does not really honor the latitudes program that they promise to loyal repeat customers. The service is good, despite the obvious staff cutbacks. There are no longer a towel monitors and people were grabbing 4 or 5 towels ...
Recently traveled with Norwegian on the Breakaway. We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and have no major complaints about anything onboard. The food was excellent at all the venues we visited including Cagney's, Ocean Blu and La Cucina. Being Platinum level guests REALLY adds to the value of cruising on Norwegian. We were able to book 4 specialty dining (vs the 2 included) for the 7 day voyage. All ...
This was our 7th cruise with NCL, and 4h on the Epic. Unfortunately, this will be our last time cruising with NCL. We did a cruise on the Spirit last year and we noticed a dip in quality and service with NCL. This was confirmed with our recent sailing.
It first started with our original cruise (04/2023) getting cancelled by NCL and the reason given was that the ship had been privately ...
Cons- The ship is old and in desperate need of upgrades. The biggest issue is the rust and soot that come out of the stacks and stains your clothes. Everything is covered in it, towels, floors and windows. Every barrier glass and window we saw was filthy. It does not wash out.
Understaffed and crowded. Lines everywhere for everything. Staff is polite but overworked.
Hard to see shows- ...
