Disappointing NCL cruise ship staff and excursions

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

Originally chose this as we have previously had good results on NCL ships and desired to return to the Caribbean. However, from the time we arrived on board the experience was a large let down. The best part of the cruise was the dinner in Le Bistro which had the best food on board as well as the staff at the Margaritaville which we partook of several times. The Ocean Blue food was undercooked ...

A Break to the Islands

I opted for this cruise because an earlier planned cruise to the Virgin Islands had had to be changed due to a previous hurricane. Dorian had me scared for a bit that this itinerary would also be changed, but it dodged St. Thomas and Puerto Rico. Later the ship had to alter the port stop in Nassau due to Humberto, but that was a decision made during the cruise for the passengers' safety. The ...

First and Last cruise with NCL

I have cruised more than10 times on 3 different cruise lines and NCL and the Breakaway were the biggest disappointment yet. The food was ridiculously bad, even in the specialty restaurants. The steak in Carney’s was so tough you could barely cut it with a knife. The Brazilian steakhouse was awful. All of the meat was grossly overlooked and had no flavor. The salad bar barely had any salad. ...

Underwhelmed

Norwegian has strong competition. Celebrity and Royal Caribbean take better care of their frequent cruisers, in my opinion. For example, both Celebrity and Royal Caribbean have lobster nights. Norwegian stopped lobster night several years ago. Both Celebrity and Royal Caribbean offer shrimp cocktails every night in the main dining rooms...not so with Norwegian. The main ...

I can’t say enough about NCL! This is my 7th cruise with them and it won’t be the last. We have sailed on both the larger and smaller ships. My husband prefers the smaller ones, but I’m good with either. It’s a great way to see the world! Everyone on the ship is very friendly and goes out of their way to meet your needs. This ship is beautiful and there is so much to see and do. The Rock of Ages ...

I have been on 7 Carnival cruises growing up and a couple in adulthood. I've also cruised with Royal Caribbean and Holland America since I've been trying to move to ships with a little quieter atmosphere and slightly more mature clientele. This Norwegian cruise was my first look at the company and will probably be my last. We have been told by some other friends and family that cruised Norwegian ...

Departure City: Port Canaveral has to be my favorite port to leave from in Florida. The drive to isn't the greatest but, it doesn't feel like it takes forever like going to Port Miami. Embarkation/Disembarkation: I've done a majority of my cruises(3 cruises) through Port Canaveral and I feel like it is the smoothest of them all. I've never had any issues with getting on the ship. The front end ...

So Many Better Small Ships

We are experienced cruisers. We got together on a cruise ship. We even got married on a cruise ship. We chose this cruise because NCL always seems to have specials and we wanted to give them a try. The Sun seemed comparable to Carnival Pride. Moreover, the ship was leaving around the time of our first year anniversary. I really wanted to like this ship and this line. However, save your ...

I booked 2 rooms, first time sailing with Norwegian, as our Carnival cruise was cancelled for weather.(sailed many times just not with Norwegian). Got to port and parking lot was full, had to lug bags 2 terminals away. Our Names weren’t on main manifest which we knew due to a late booking because of our cruise cancellation, the lady on the phone said we’d be on the updated manifest. We ...

Overall experience was great! Staff members were very friendly, always said " Hello with a smile", and ready to help in all situations. Food was plenty , fresh and delicious. Our house keeper Gabriel ensured our cabin is clean and ready to use. Melvin made our drinks on point. Our Children care personnel always had a program for the kids allowing parents to enjoy a moment without Children. ...
