As a group of friends that have cruised more than 20 times with multiple companies in multiple countries I can say without a doubt that I have never booked with a cruise line company that is so against helping their customers we had some bad weather during our trip which is understandable that we missed a port here or there but when you are going to be in Port less than 2 hours from your flight ...
Love cruising out of New York City. We are not loyal to any one cruise line and have cruised over 17 times.
We booked an Inside cabin and was upgraded to a Balcony as our Inside room was next to a utility room that was very noisy during the evening hours. The staff was wonderful about addressing this problem. We received a tray of chocolates for the inconvenience also. The rooms were both ...
One of the destinations on my bucket list was Iceland. The package offered, including airfare was enticing. Even though NCL supposedly arranged the tickets in June 2022, I couldn't get definite details until the cruise was paid in full. They booked Jet Blue for the outgoing flight and Icelandair /Jet Blue for the return. I'll get into more details about that fiasco later.
Once at the port ...
My husband and I booked this cruise over a year ago, particularly excited about the Prima being a new innovative, slightly smaller ship, bucking the current bigger-is-better trend in cruise ship builds. A transatlantic cruise would be a first for us, as well as our first visit to Iceland, including 3 ports - a day each in Akureyri, Isafjordur and an overnight in Reykjavik. Perhaps the biggest deal ...
NCL's PR1MA:
We recently cruised on NCL's newest ship, the PR1MA. An 11 day cruise out of Manhattan to Reykjavik Iceland.
1st off, IMO destinations are more important than the ship, Iceland was a bucket list destination it did not disappoint:
As negative as some parts of my frank and honest analysis may sound, It was a terrific cruise.
Overall impression of the PR1MA is
NCL ...
Terrible ...terrible ...terrible
I've been on lots of ncl cruises ....first on prima
And never again
Prima was terrible ...
Room noise
Entertainment terrible
Missing ports ...no compensation
Buffet room so small had to eat in another dinning room
Entertainment rooms so small ...30 can sit
Other only stand...no way am I standing for 45 minutes to see a show
No ...
We choose this cruise to experience the new NCL Prima. This ship is different from any of NCL's other ships. The cabins are large and nicely appointed. All entertainment venues are much too small. Reservations are required for the production shows. This was a 12 day cruise and they only had one production show....this is unacceptable. All the other entertainment venues are so ...
Since when do ships charge for room service? This one charges $5 for breakfast and $10 for any other time of the day.
The buffet is very small and seating is almoat always full.
Excursions are way over priced. Sure, lets give you that discount because we marked them up so much even with a discount you'd be over paying.
Venues are too small to host most events. The lines start 30min plus ...
A repositioning cruise to Iceland really had us excited. We like and sail Norwegian more than the competition but we have enjoyed them all. It was a real plus to sail on the newest ship in the fleet.
We were concerned about some of the unflattering reviews we saw, but we kept an open mind about it. I am just comparing this experience to the 25 +/- other cruises we have been on.
Here is what ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary. The ship is beautiful but there isn’t a good flow on the ship. We are long time cruisers of NCL (sapphire level). I would have to rate this as the worse cruise with NCL. Dining in main restaurants as well as specialty dining did not meet our expectations. Shows were all but non existing and entertainment throughout the ship was below par. This was eleven ...
