Mid-Ship Balcony Cabins

137 Reviews
These Norwegian Jewel mid-ship staterooms sleep up to four guests and come with two lower beds that convert into a queen-size bed and a convertible sofa pulls out to sleep two more. Also includes a sitting area and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open to a private balcony with a great view. Because they are mid-ship, you'll have easy access to everything on board.

It turned out to be like a regular balcony on other ships with the exception of the bathroom which is really nice but the tub has a high side so if a person is disabled, that would probably hard to use. Sliding glass door to the balcony was easy to open and the views were wonderful from this deck 11 height. You can stand at the balcony and see your neighbors if they are standing there but it is pretty private. No smoking allowed but there were no signs and the neighbor was smoking a few times I went outside. The bed was made up into a queen and I had asked for a mattress topper to be on there. It was not. I was able to sleep ok in any case without it. The top cover on the bed had a stain and was never changed out for a new one. I did not complain about it but I'm sure they would have done something. The bed skirt around the bottom was dirty like some one had dropped food/drinks and it splashed on it. There was clean towels always in the bathroom and shampoo and body wash in dispensers in the shower. The coffee maker was hit or miss as to when I would have coffee to use with it. The steward sometimes left some and mostly did not. The tv was a flat screen and I watched several good newer movies on the small screen. You could also see dining reservations available, shore excursion info, ships location map and shows they had in the auditorium broadcast throughout the day. It was an good room but for the mini suite price I paid, I would go regular balcony next time. Just not worth the extra $$ to me but some may like that bathroom!

Of course everyone would love a huge cabin but it is a ship. Enough room for 2 adults. Like the coffee maker in the rooms. Thought the bathrooms would have been smaller so I was pleasantly surprised. Small refrig. also a nice surprise. Very clean !! I would not go on a cruise unless I had a balcony room. It is well worth the upgrade fee. To be able to sit out on my balcony, sipping my coffee, enjoying the awesome scenery Alaska has to offer will will never be forgotten. Got some great pics. of Eagles, whales, the sun over the snow capped mountains and the beautiful blue glaciers all from my balcony. Our cabin steward was a great young man ( Bayardo) very hospitable with a great personality

Great Overall! juditheee
Room was small, but I didn't expect anything else. The bathroom was actually step up from the last cruise I was on. It was still very small, but had shower doors, instead of a curtain. On a previous cruise we had a curtain and the water got all over the floor no matter what we tried. The bed was comfortable. I really enjoyed the balcony.

Cabin was cozy and perfect for the two of us. Having a balcony made the trip even more special as we could sit out there and enjoy the view of the sea.

The balcony cabin was larger than we have found on at least two other cruise lines and the bathroom area is much better than at least three other cruise lines.

Typical cruise standard cabin. Very cramped but adequate storage space. As long as I have a balcony - I'm happy. I will say the bathroom was ridiculously small. Never, ever, met our cabin steward - which I thought was a negative.

Too small - 30% smaller than on Carnival Magic. Otherwise fine.

Very nice room. Plenty of room for two people (first impressions aside) and lovely balcony. Central location and can easily take stairs up to 12th floor for buffet, pool, etc.as well as DOWN to 6 for dining.

Amazing Time on the Jewel unitywillprosper

We had a blast on our balcony, we enjoyed breakfast with mimosas every morning on our balcony. It was pretty remarkable just sitting on the balcony taking in the scenery.

Our cabin was clean, neat, and well-maintained by our room steward. We had towel animals every night. The location was perfect mid-ship and near the elevators.

Loved the redesigned cabin. The bathroom was very functional and comfortable. Nice sized balcony with sufficient room to sit or stand. Flat Screen TV with more TV viewing options than before. Very Attentive cabin steward. Cabin was comfortable and enjoyable.

The cabin was very clean and well appointed. We were surprised at how tiny the cabin seemed for a Balcony. Several in our group were traveling with their children and had 3 or 4 to a cabin and when the extra beds were pulled out at night, they couldn't get to the Balcony, big negative. Mia, our room steward was wonderful, but some days our cabin wasn't made up until late morning or noon, perhaps they have too many cabins for each steward... The bathroom was very nice, shower was roomy enough, liked the shampoo and shower gel dispensers, again very well appointed, plenty of counter space and shelves for toiletries. We were in the center of the ship and found the area very quiet, which was really nice. The one downside to our particular cruise was the plumbing issues that 4 of our Balcony cabins experienced. Plugged toilets are never fun, especially on a cruise! The maintenance staff was quick to respond, but the troubles continued for several days, never did find out what caused the problem, but grateful when things started working right. The Front Desk was very apologetic and offered us an evening in The Steakhouse (specialty restaurant) for our troubles.

We had a balcony stateroom. The bed was extremely comfortable. The balcony was well worth the extra cost-- It was nice to sit out there in the late afternoons and early evenings (the period of time between sun-bathing and dinner) and watch as the ship sailed out of port or in the open water. The bathroom was tight, but perfectly functional. Our steward was outstanding. Not only did he do a room make-up each morning, and turn down each evening, but he always did it when it worked for us. It seemed like he tailored his busy work schedule around when we felt like being in our stateroom. Our daughter required the pullout couch-- He stowed it for us each morning and made it up again each evening. Great touch.

Okay cabins, but very small. It was a good thing we got two connecting rooms for a family of 4 because you could barely put two people to a room comfortably. Friends on the cruise had a 9 year old son in their cabin with them and he couldn't even fit on the pull out sofa bed. Bathroom was well laid out with sliding door to shower and sliding door to toilet area so shower, sink and toilet could be separated.

9608. Wonderful cabin - quiet, just steps to the mid-ship stairs and elevators. Plenty of storage, cabinets, hangers. The 3 shelves in the bathroom held everything I needed. The bed was fine and the pillows were fantastic! Also, my towels all week were thick and plush and fluffy. What a treat. My cabin steward was Victor Hugo and he was absolutely perfect. Greeted me within 5 minutes of my arriving at my cabin, asked for any special requests -- did I want ice ever afternoon, coffee, cream, empty the refrigerator. He always had a big smile on his face, and that always put a big smile on my face. My stateroom was kept absolutely spotless, and was cleaned promptly every morning. No complaints there!ed it.

Our Cabin Steward Richard did and amazing job. I swear we would be just gone for a moment and the room would be cleaned. I loved the towel animals on the bed each night. The room itself was very cozy and the view on the balcony was amazing. Luckily we were on the side that showed each port. Definitely bring a multi outlet plug since there are very few plugs in the room.

Room was nice but small. Rooms being small was a commonly heard complaint. The glass on the balcony was too dirty to look through. I tried to clean it but didn't have much luck. The TV remote didn't work. The room steward gave us another one that worked sporadically. The TV was only about 20 inches. They should replace the big picture in front of the bed with a decent TV. The speaker in the room didn't work and we had to go into the hallway to hear announcements.

Midship, as low to the water as possible will be helpful to those with motion sickness.

Cabin location is great, midship is less boat rocking. Not much noise at all. Balcony is great for morning coffee. The two twin beds pushed together makes a "Full" sized bed - not a queen. I'm 6'3" and my feet hung off the bed. On a normal sized queen bed they would not. Also be prepared that your knees will touch the wall in front of you while sitting in the restroom. Water pressure in the shower is surprisingly good and heats up relatively fast.

The balcony cabin was ok. The bathroom was divided into 3 sections. The sink and mirror was in the middle. The shower was to the right with a sliding door instead of a shower curtain. That was nice. The toilet was on the left with a sliding door also. That was kind of tight there. The in room safe was the usual size but very deep. you could put a lot in it for safe storage.

We loved the location of our cabin and are so glad we decided on a balcony for Alaska. We spent the morning we were in Sawyer Glacier on the balcony watching all the sights. We could just step inside for a few minutes and warm up and then head back outside.

A great location for the cabin, because most of the things we wanted to access were forward to midship. This was closer to front than the midship elevators, but not a bad walk for my husband who is on a cane.

Mini-Cruise with Neighbors Pollyanna Dreamgirl
Cabin 10072 - BA Balcony. Toward the middle of the ship on deck 10. Very little movement. Perfect layout for 2 people. Two desk areas with chairs - one for tray with hot pot (we moved it to an upper shelf) - and one for makeup, or whatever. Refrigerator - had our steward move the "honor" items to a top shelf so we could use it for our own stuff. GREAT storage - fairly large closet, bank of 3 drawers on one side of closet, bank of 4 open shelves on other side of closet. Bathroom storage minimal - 3 little glass shelves on side, and 1 shelf under the sink. Small night stand next to bed. Lots of room under bed for luggage storage (or whatever). Nice balcony - 2 chairs and 1 tiny little round table. Love the new flat screen TVs.!

Best Vacation Ever! johndeere02
Port side balcony on the Jewel (Category BA midship)- Room and bathroom were small, but functional. Plenty of storage space. We put suit cases under the bed and in closet. Fridge was big enough to keep a few extra beers and bottles of pop in. Bed was comfy. I liked being able to have control over how warm/cool our room was. Balcony was wonderful. We figured out how to open the doors between balconies so our whole group had one large balcony! It was always very quiet in our hall.

Cabin 9108 (BA category, mid-ship balcony room on the 9th floor) Having sailed on Princess and Royal Caribbean previously, I found the balcony cabin and balcony to be on the small side, but for the amount of time we spend in the cabin, it was comfortable for 2. The bathroom was the roomiest and there was adequate closet space. Cabin 9108 is in an ideal location - up the midship elevators and 4 doors aft on the starboard side. We never heard any outside noise and the room was central to all locations on the ship.

Our cabin was on deck 9 and slightly aft of midship. Nice size closets and drawers, very comfortable beds (had ours divided into 2 twins), comfortable couch, nice sit down vanity area with hair dryer and mirror. The bathroom divided into 3 compartments-shower, sink, and toilet. Toilet could be a tight fit for a larger person. TV, hot water pot, refrigerator and mini-bar and small table. Balcony with a great view and protected from the wind. We did not hear any noise from the hallway or adjacent cabins. Each night we found a new "towel animal" on our bed. Nice touch!

We had a balcony on the 10th floor aft. The cabin was nice, typical for a cruise. The balcony had a great view. I had loud neighbors which was annoying because if their balcony door was open when mine was I could hear everything. Had they been a little more respectful and quiet, it would have been fine.

We fit two large suitcases under the bed. We had enough room to hold all our stuff. The shower was hot, but if you are large in the butt, you may have a tough time in the toilet section! The thermostat worked well. We were on the 10th floor, starboard, and really enjoyed the room. Not large, but big enough for its purpose. Not much to watch on TV. You have Fox News, MSNBC, ESPN, a couple kids channels, ship-based channels, and a couple channels that show old shows. No clock in the room either. Internet access costs $100 for 250 minutes, or $55 for 100 minutes.

Great storage space! More than plenty of room for the three us for our clothes and personal items. Bathroom is small but streamlined. Loved the shower head on a hose that you can leave on the hook or take off and use hand held. Balcony more spacious than I expected. Room for two chairs, the small round balcony able, and the rectangular table from our cabin, we put it out there for more room when the pull out was pulled out. With all that on the balcony you could still be out there and have room for two more people to stand. Loved it! Now I want a balcony all the time!

NCL = Never Care Line CaptainKirk
Nice balcony cabin on the 10th deck very close to restaurants and activites and yet very quiet. The balcony was very small though, you can barely relax on it and you cannot eat on it, too small. To get a bigger balcony, you have to upgrade to a mini suite on the 11th deck. Princess cruises has a balconey twice the size for the same price.

Enough space to unpack and put things in the closet. Smokers upwind sometimes got in the way of using the balcony. The bed was marginal for my back - had to sleep right on the edge to get a good night sleep. TV Captains log had unchanging data for sunrise and sunset and sea conditions, though we sailed 800 nautical miles from east to west. A nice addition, especially in the tropics would be sea temperature. The bathroom and shower were good - I thought about installing those shampoo dispensors in my own shower. Very good cabin staff.

Barely average for a balcony cabin on a newer ship.  I think it was only 167 sq. ft., and in spite of a commodious shower the bathroom was tiny beyond belief.  I could as well barely make out the tiny TV screen from across the room.  Other than that it was what you might expect on a moderately-priced cruise line/
