Island Princess To Be Christened In Vancouver
'Tis the season for ship christenings -- Crystal Serenity and Swan Hellenic in London in early July and Costa Mediterranea's recent splash in Naples -- but one of the most interesting choices-of-locale is Princess Cruises' Island Princess.

The new 92,000-ton ship will be unveiled in Vancouver -- a first-ever inaugural for that western Canada city. The ceremony is slated for July 11 and Island Princess is currently en route from St. Nazaire, France's Chantiers de l'Atlantique Shipyards.

Island Princess will be based, for its inaugural season in Alaska, in Vancouver. The 1,970-passenger Island Princess is a sister ship to Coral Princess.
