| Crystal Revises SARS Policy |
Crystal Cruises, which shocked the industry with its maverick response to SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) by barring passengers and crew from
Toronto in April and May, has reversed its policy, effective June 1. The reversal also includes passengers and crew who come from Singapore and Vietnam, two other areas that have been shown to halt the spread of SARS. According to a statement, Crystal may, as recommended by the International Council of Cruise Lines and the World Health Organization, require passengers from these three areas to undergo enhanced screening at embarkation.
Crystal continues to deny sailing to passengers who have been, within ten days before the cruise start date, to "Current Areas of Special Concern," which at this point is China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. | |
