| CDC Honor Roll |
| It may not be sexy...but it’s clean: the Centers for Disease Control’s Vessel Sanitation Program, which conducts quarterly inspections on cruise ship sanitation practices, lists a virtual honor role of vessels scoring 90 or above. Among them are newcomers like Holland America’s Amsterdam (93) and Costa’s Atlantica (98), but more tenured ships also performed well. These include Celebrity Century (93), Carnival Ecstasy (94), Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas (97), Norwegian’s Sky (97) and Holland America’s Volendam (98). Lagging behind -- but still passing with the required 86 point score -- is Carnival’s Tropicale (soon to be transferred to Costa); most of the violations were kitchen-related. | |
