In the increasing competition for "unique" home ports, Celebrity Cruises has
become Jacksonville, Florida's first major "get" (ahem, cruise line).
Celebrity announces that its Zenith will sail a series of "exotic Caribbean"
itineraries -- 11- to 14-days -- from October through April (2004) from that
northern Florida city.
Specifically, the ship will sail a western Caribbean route (ports include
Roatan, the largest of Honduras' Bay Islands, a transit through the historic
Panama Canal, and the company's private island, Labadee, Hispanola) and a
southern Caribbean itinerary (which, interestingly, definitely takes a
different approach with an overnight in Barbados as well as calls at
Tortola, a British Virgin Island, and Grenada). |
