Oceania Drops Turkey
In a move that probably won’t surprise anyone, Oceania, the new, two-ship cruise line using Renaissance’s R-series vessels, has made at-least-for-now changes to Insignia’s itinerary, dropping Istanbul and focusing on more of a Western Mediterranean experience. As a result, the ship’s 14-day maiden voyage, still slated for an October 4 launch, will sail a roundtrip Barcelona schedule. Insignia’s second cruise, which also had planned to sail one-way to Istanbul, will now feature a Barcelona-Civitavecchia itinerary.

Insignia is the second ship for Oceania Cruises, founded last year by a teaming of two cruise line honchos: Joe Watters, of Crystal, and Frank Del Rio, of Renaissance. The duo plan to launch the line’s first ship, the 30,277-ton, 684-passenger Regatta, on July 5.
