(11:25 a.m. EDT) -- Passengers on Royal Caribbean's Oasis-class ships no longer have to pay a la carte at Sabor.
The popular Mexican restaurant now bears a $19 cover charge for both lunch and dinner on Harmony of the Seas, Allure of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas. Drinks are still priced individually.
Previously, only Navigator of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas charged a flat cover. Royal Caribbean also has adjusted the pricing on those ships. Sabor on Navigator of the Seas and Freedom of the Seas now cost $25 for lunch and dinner, while Liberty of the Seas charges $30 for lunch and dinner.
Under the a la carte menu, dishes ranged in price from $5 (for build-you-own tacos, quesadillas and small plates) to $10 (for main courses, such as a short rib and chicken empanada).
Cruise Critic members expressed mixed feelings toward the Oasis class' change from a la carte to a $19 cover charge, on the Royal Caribbean forums.
BugsyCruiser said, "I like the idea of a cover charge versus ala carte but I've never had a bill from Sabor where I went OMG did I spend that much?" Yorkvillain added, "I like the move as well. Although all this means now is that I'll eat more and pass out earlier." Meanwhile, BNRB said, "Wow, that's quite expensive for Sabor. On Oasis, Sabor was usually empty and much cheaper than that. Who would actually pay $19 for a taco on a cruise ship?"
