Princess Announces Delay for Island Debut

February 5, 2003
Princess Cruises today announced that the launch of Island Princess, slated to debut in May, has been rescheduled for July. The ship, an 88,000-ton, 1,970-passenger sister to the also-delayed Coral Princess, will make its new inaugural with a July 12 Vancouver to Seward seven day trip. Canceled, then, is its May 13 Panama Canal transit from Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angeles, a three day coastal repositioning from Los Angeles to Vancouver and six seven day Gulf of Alaska voyages. Passengers on the canceled cruises are being offered full refunds and a "credit." Princess did not elaborate on the exact nature of the credit.
