Construction Continues on Norwegian's Great Stirrup Cay; Cabanas and Taco Stand Already Added

(1:20 p.m. EDT) -- Construction on Norwegian Cruise Line's private island destination Great Stirrup Cay is expected to be complete by the end of October, Frank Del Rio, the president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings said at a press conference at the Seatrade Global conference in Fort Lauderdale. 

Already completed are the enhanced beach area, upgraded for-fee cabanas, the complimentary Abaco Taco bar, a refurbished beach boardwalk and shaded lounge seating.

By the end of April, the medical center and underwater sculpture garden will also be complete, and June will see the addition of new lockers at the marina. The last upgrades to be added will be a family beach, the much-anticipated zip line, the Landshark Bar & Grill and the exclusive Lagoon, which will feature luxury beach villas and the Silver Palm Restaurant for Haven passengers only, a landside version of the Mandara Spa and function space for cruisers wishing to hold a private party.
