| QE2 Passes CDC's Re-Test |
Inspectors at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention didn't waste much time slotting a reinspection of Cunard's QE2 into their schedules. The ship was checked out in Honolulu on Friday and -- sigh-of-relief -- passed
with a 92 score.
Just three weeks before, the grande old dame had scored scads of headlines in publications around the world when it flunked the CDC's vessel sanitation inspection. While the score wasn¹t such a scandal -- the ship received an 85, one point shy of passing -- the graphic details of mold in icemakers and cockroaches in a kitchen did cause quite a bit of chatter.
The ship is currently in the midst of its world cruise, which is sailing a roundtrip itinerary out of New York, beginning January 5 and winding up on April 23. | |
