(3:45 p.m. EST) -- Carnival Horizon, Carnival Cruise Line's next new ship, will offer a series of four-night Bermuda cruises from New York in the spring and summer of 2018, beginning one month after its debut.

The long-weekend itineraries will depart Thursdays and feature a full-day visit to Bermuda. Cruisers can choose from five sailing dates -- May 24, June 21, July 19, August 16 and September 13.

Including the New York City sailings, Carnival will offer 18 different cruises to Bermuda during the 2017/18 season, departing from five East Coast homeports: Baltimore, Charleston, New York, Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale.

The 3,936-passenger Carnival Horizon will debut April 2018 in Europe, with a series of four Mediterranean sailings from Barcelona, ranging in length from seven to 13 nights. On May 9, the ship will reposition to New York with a 14-night transatlantic cruise. In addition to the five Bermuda sailings, the ship will operate a series of eight-night Caribbean sailings through mid-September.  Carnival Horizon will then shift to Miami where it will run six- and eight-day Caribbean cruises year-round.

Carnival Horizon is under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. The ship will have many of the same features that debuted on its sister ship, Carnival Vista, including the SkyRide, IMAX Theater and WaterWorks aqua park with the twisty Kaleid-o-slide.
