(6 a.m. EST) -- Three Carnival Cruise Line ships were affected by heavy fog in Galveston, Texas, over the weekend, with a string of delayed departures forcing the line to shorten each cruise and make a series of itinerary changes.

Carnival Freedom was scheduled to depart Galveston January 14 on a return seven-night Western Caribbean cruise -- with calls at Ocho Rios in Jamaica and George Town in Grand Cayman -- while Carnival Valor was scheduled to depart the same day on a return five-night Western Caribbean cruise with calls at Cozumel and Progreso in Mexico.

Carnival Breeze -- the third Carnival ship affected by adverse weather conditions in Galveston -- was scheduled to depart the port yesterday, January 15, on a seven-night Western Caribbean cruise, with calls at Roatan in Honduras, Belize City and Cozumel in Mexico.

See below for the most up-to-date itinerary changes

Carnival Valor

Valor departed Galveston one day late, on January 15, on a four-day cruise -- calling at Cozumel only. Carnival advised passengers over the weekend that they were entitled to cancel their cruise and receive a full refund. Passengers who decided to travel will receive a one-day pro-rata refund on their cruise fare. Gratuities will also be adjusted accordingly.

Carnival Freedom

Carnival Freedom departed Galveston late on January 15, one day behind the ship's original schedule. Due to the delayed departure, the ship is now operating a six-day cruise, calling at Grand Cayman and Cozumel, with a call to Ocho Rios in Jamaica dropped from the itinerary.

Passengers booked on the current Carnival Freedom itinerary were also offered the option to cancel their cruise with a full refund. Passengers who decided to sail the itinerary will receive one-day pro-rated refund, including gratuities.

Carnival Breeze

Carnival Breeze is now expected to depart today, January 16, with debarkation and embarkation taking place some time this morning. The itinerary has been modified to a six-day cruise to include calls to Mahogany Bay, Roatan and Cozumel, Mexico, with a call to Belize City dropped from the itinerary.

Passengers booked on Carnival Breeze are offered the option to cancel their cruise with a full refund. Passengers wishing to cancel are advised to contact: 1-800-CARNIVAL. Passengers can also sign up to Carnival Breeze text alerts by texting "CCL3" to 278473.
