| Uniworld Offers Free Cancellation Insurance |
Uniworld, which like other European river cruise operators was impacted by the floods there last fall, is making a pre-emptive strike for any would-be passengers leery of making spring cruise plans. Spring, of course, is a natural time for floods in Europe's inland waterways as rain is common -- and snows melting from mountaintops create even higher levels.
So Uniworld is offering, for a limited time, free cancellation insurance -- for any reason. The new policy applies to cruises booked during the March - May time frame and while Uniworld is not even breathing the word "floods" in its announcement, the cancel-anytime policy could alleviate passenger concerns during a riskier season than, say, high summer.
At this point, Uniworld's the only the river cruise line to offer the policy and it must be re-stated that it applies only to those European cruises that take place during the early- to- late spring. Summer and fall passengers should, as always, investigate independent insurance options. | |
