Hiccup in Coral Princess Debut

November 14, 2002
Though delays in new-builds were common in the 1990's building boom, travelers have gotten more accustomed to "inaugurals" actually occurring ahead of schedule. Except for today's announcement. Princess Cruises says that due to a last minute, um, hiccup, passengers slated for the December 14 voyage of its Coral Princess are out-of-luck (though they will receive, besides the full refund, a $500 per cabin credit). Instead, Coral Princess will join the line's other new "acquisition" Tahitian Princess in a Christmas Eve inaugural. The 88,000-ton, 1,970-passenger Coral Princess is the first in a new series of ships for Princess.
