Crown Odyssey Alters Indonesia Itinerary

October 31, 2002
More fallout from the violence in Indonesia: Orient Lines has quickly revamped the winter itinerary of its Crown Odyssey, which was slated to call at Indonesia's Bali and Semarang between December and February. Instead, the ship, offering a number of sightseeing-intensive multi-week voyages, will focus on destinations such as Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti, while also focusing on exotic ports of call in Malaysia, Borneo, Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam and India.

The U.S. State Department has, of course, issued a "travel warning," urging Americans to avoid trips to Indonesia due to the existing unrest. It's also issued less dire "public announcements" concerning the Philippines and Malaysia; these simply ask Americans to be cautious and alert when visiting these destinations.
