Elation Sailing Canceled

October 28, 2002
Carnival has canceled the October 27 sailing of Elation. The ship last week developed a problem with its propulsion system and had to skip Cabo San Lucas -- the final port on its seven day Mexican Riviera run.

The ship will undergo repairs at a San Francisco dry dock and is anticipated to return to service on Saturday, November 2 -- missing just one week. The ship will resume its weeklong Los Angeles roundtrip Mexican Riviera itinerary.

Passengers on last week's cruise were given Carnival's standard $20 "missed port" payment. Those travelers who expected to sail Saturday received a full refund -- and a 50 percent discount on a future Carnival cruise.
