Tropical Storm Lili Gains Strength
September 27, 2002
It seems like déjà vu all-over-again; the mercurial Tropical Storm Lili is headed in the same direction as the now-fizzling Isidore. Lili, which as a tropical storm caused some damage earlier this week on St. Vincent, Barbados, St. Lucia and Grenada, had weakened to a tropical depression. She's now resurging, with winds at about 40 m.p.h., only just qualifying for the "tropical storm" moniker. Currently, Lili's headed for Jamaica and the Cayman Islands and meteorologists predict she could reach hurricane strength within three days. In the meantime, Carnival and Royal Caribbean -- the major players in the Western Caribbean at this time of year -- report that while their staff is keeping an eye on Lili, they anticipate no major changes over the weekend.
