NCL Crew Member Arrested for Drugs

July 30, 2002
A crew member on Norwegian Cruise Line's Norway was arrested in Miami earlier this week when it was discovered, during a customs inspection, that he was “wearing” two kilos of heroin. The employee, who hails originally from Jamaica, had strapped the drugs to his body. The discovery caused a delay for passengers, who then had to wait while drug-sniffing dogs searched the ship. Nothing else was found.
According to NCL spokeswoman Heather Sheats, “we are currently cooperating with U.S. customs in the investigation and have been asked not to comment on the situation.”
