Cruise Ship Crew Hit by Measles Outbreak

February 28, 2014
Costa Pacifica (12:14 p.m. EST) - Some 50 Costa Pacifica crewmembers have been struck by what is suspected to be the measles virus. All affected crew have been disembarked and isolated, and no passengers have reported being sick.

According to Costa, passengers have been informed of the situation by the captain. Though no passengers are sick, extra doctors and nurses were brought on the ship during a port call to La Spezia. The cruise is continuing as scheduled.

All disembarked crew have been replaced on the ship so shipboard service will not suffer.

We first learned of the outbreak from member cokj72 who posted Costa's press release in Italian on the Cruise Critic Costa message boards.
