(12:30 p.m. EST, February 26, 2014) -- Royal Caribbean opened cruise sales for the future UK-based Anthem of the Seas, today (Feb. 26).
The second of three 167,800-ton, 4,180-passenger Quantum-class ships, Anthem will be based in the UK for its maiden season, which starts on April 22, 2015.
The ship will be sailing on 3 to 14-night itineraries from Southampton, with the inaugural cruise a 14-night roundtrip Spain and Mediterranean beaches cruise. Fares start at £1,949 per person for an inside cabin.
Following in the wake of Quantum of the Seas -- the line's first Quantum class ship being launched in November -- Anthem's stand-out features include a sky-diving simulator, fairground-style dodgem cars and the North Star -- a glass capsule rising 300 feet above sea level to provide 360-degree views. The Seaplex complex -- including the bumper cars, roller skating and a circus school -- will be the largest indoor sports and entertainment centre at sea. The 16-deck ship also boasts the most spacious cabins in the fleet. All cruises are full-board with 24-hour room service.
After the summer season in Europe, Anthem of the Seas will spend the winter in Fort Lauderdale.
