Conflicting Reports Over Transfer of Celebrity Century Cruise Ship
Celebrity Century (10:23 a.m. EST) -- The future of Celebrity Cruises' oldest ship Celebrity Century remains uncertain despite an announcement by French cruise line Croisieres de France on its website that it will take possession of Celebrity Century in 2015.

The French line is a subsidiary of European-based Pullmantur Cruises, itself a division of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. RCCL is the parent company of Celebrity Cruises. But a Celebrity spokeswoman said the report of the transfer is just a rumor.

"You asked if we had made an announcement about Celebrity Century, and no, we haven't. It appears a rumor surfaced via a post on a French web site last week," Elizabeth Jakeway, director of public relations for Celebrity, told Cruise Critic.

The transfer of Century would not be without precedent. Two former Celebrity ships, Celebrity Horizon and Celebrity Zenith, are part of the Croisieres de France fleet.

We've reached out to Celebrity, Croisieres de France and Pullmantur for clarification.
