Three Medical Emergencies Prompt Cruise Ship Itinerary Change
freedom-of-the-seas-cruise-ship-itinerary-change-medical-emergencies (5:30 p.m. EST) -- Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas altered its itinerary Tuesday when three passengers were evacuated from the vessel for medical reasons.

Line spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez said the ship traded a planned call on St. Thomas for a stop in San Juan on Wednesday as a result.

Martinez also verified that the three incidents "... were not related, just an odd occurrence."

Cruise Critic member Karter is onboard and had this to say about the events: "... the coast guard airlifted one person off Coco Cay. We were then diverted to Nassau to evacuate two more people."

The rest of the itinerary has remained unchanged, and there has been no word yet on whether passengers on the sailing will be offered any sort of compensation for the port swap.
