High Winds Prevent Cruise Ships from Docking in Ketchikan

September 20, 2013
(3:49 p.m. EDT) - For the second day in a row, cruise ships are bypassing scheduled port calls to Ketchikan because of high winds.

Norwegian Pearl, Oosterdam and Statendam remain at sea rather than attempt to dock in the area, which is currently experiencing sustained winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour and gusts of up to 70 mph.

Yesterday, three ships -- Sapphire Princess, Star Princess and Zuiderdam -- skipped Ketchikan to avoid the weather.
