Ferry Collides with German Cruise Ship

September 18, 2013
(10:26 a.m. EDT) -- The German cruise ship Mein Schiff 2 was hit by a ferry late last week while docked in Bari, Italy. Nobody was injured though passengers from the affected area had to be evacuated for a short period.

The Superfast ferry scraped the side of the Tui Cruises ship after pulling free from the pier during high winds on the afternoon of September 13. Passengers in the affected interior section of the ship were immediately moved while engineers evaluated the damage. Ultimately, the dent was deemed mostly cosmetic and repair work was conducted right away.

The ship departed as scheduled later that evening.
