Carnival Dream Returns to Service

March 23, 2013
(1:25 p.m. EDT) -- Carnival Dream returned to service today, two weeks after Carnival cut short a cruise when the ship's emergency generator malfunctioned.

With repairs to the ship complete, the U.S. Coast Guard and other regulatory organizations certified and cleared the ship for service.

The generator malfunctioned while the ship was docked in St. Maarten on March 13. Carnival Cruise Lines arranged for passengers onboard to be flown to the United States, then the ship sailed back to Florida for repairs.

Today, Dream will embark on a seven-night cruise from Port Canaveral with calls to Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten.
