Noordam Passes CDC

April 2, 2002
Holland America’s Noordam, which suffered the indignity of a flunked CDC Vessel Sanitation inspection earlier this year with an 82 score (86 is passing) -- has been retested -- and passed this time with flying colors. The ship, inspected in early March in St. Thomas, scored a 97.

There’s even better news for Windstar’s Wind Surf, which underwent its first-ever CDC inspection (since its introduction to the Windstar lineup the ship has not been calling in U.S. ports and so has not been tested). Wind Surf, during a recent call at Port Everglades, aced the notoriously difficult inspection with a score of 100. Wind Surf is the only ship to achieve such a hallowed post in the last-couple-months-batch of ships inspected by the CDC though quite a handful did score an almost-as-good 99. Among them? Carnival Spirit, Disney Wonder, Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur and Radiance-of-the-Seas, Princess’ Royal Princess and Holland America’s Volendam.
