Brazilian Man Dies After Falling From Cruise Ship Upper Deck

(2:13 p.m. EST) -- A 52-year-old male passenger on MSC Fantasia died yesterday after an onboard fall from one of the ship's upper decks.

In a statement, MSC Cruises said the passenger, who was from Brazil, was found dead early Thursday morning, December 6. According to the line, "MSC Fantasia's medical team made every effort to resuscitate the passenger, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the ship's doctor."

A spokeswoman for the line told Cruise Critic the exact cause of death has not yet been determined. "MSC Cruises immediately notified all relevant health and security authorities, who have carried out investigations… MSC Fantasia has been given full clearance from the necessary authorities and will now continue on her scheduled itinerary."

Fantasia was sailing between Santos and Ilha Grande, Brazil at the time of the incident.
