Search Called off for Missing Cruise Passenger; Ship Alters Itinerary
holland-america-eurodam-cruise-overboard (6 p.m. EST) -- The search has been called off for a passenger who went missing from Holland America's Eurodam, according to a statement from the line.

An article from the United States Coast Guard, posted on the Cruise Critic message boards, states that the 42-year-old Washington man was reported missing by his wife, who was also onboard.

An initial search of the vessel turned up a baseball cap, which was found on an outside deck. The man's wife verified that it belonged to her husband.

The Coast Guard, Eurodam and rescue crews searched for the passenger, who disappeared early Thursday morning when the ship was traveling from St. Thomas to the Bahamas on a seven-night Eastern Caribbean sailing.

As a result, a scheduled call on private island Half Moon Cay was canceled. The ship returned to Fort Lauderdale Saturday, as planned.
