Carnival Corporation has mostly ended speculation about the fate of Patriot, the one-time Holland America ship that returned in February to the corporate fold upon the demise of American Classic Voyages. Carnival had sold Patriot, also known as Nieuw Amsterdam, to American Classic.
Since its repurchase of the vessel -- which Carnival bought at bankruptcy auction -- rumors have rampant about which of the company’s “world’s leading cruise lines” would get the ship. Now Carnival is saying that Patriot is officially up for sale. However, anything can still happen as a Carnival Corp. spokeswoman does say “there are still other options under consideration as well but it is up for sale.”
