Expanded Golf Programs
Golf continues to be a hot ticket item on cruise line shore excursion menus as Carnival, for one, announces it is expanding its duffer program. Among the newer elements include a wider variety of golf-oriented offerings -- at courses, for instance, in Belize, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Bermuda, Grand Cayman, Mexico and Europe -- and a deal with Callaway to offer that company’s equipment for rent to passengers.

Onboard, Carnival’s program includes practice ranges, clinics and lessons hosted by pros, video instruction technology and putting contests.

Silversea is another cruise line with expanded golf features. The company has launched “Silver Links 365,” a program it offers on all cruises aboard silver Shadow and Silver Whisper. Among the elements include onboard instruction, video teaching technology, and clinics, demos and putting contests. Silversea also has a deal with Callaway to rent equipment and offers shore excursion outings to prestigious courses.
